Thursday, January 8th, 2015
OVERLAND PARK, KAN. – S/P2 is pleased to announce that GEICO has been named a 2015 Excellence in Safety and Pollution Prevention Award recipient. This award recognizes GEICO’s strong commitment to promoting safety and pollution prevention training in the automotive repair and insurance industries.
“GEICO excels in safety and pollution prevention training,” S/P2 President Kyle Holt stated. “It’s a commitment they make in their own organization and collision shops they work with to stay compliant with annual OSHA and EPA guidelines.”
“The S/P2 Collision online training has been a part of our Auto Repair Xpress® (ARX) program since its inception in 2003,” said Joe Lacy, GEICO’s Director of Claims Home Office Auto Damage Performance Review. “At least one employee at each ARX shop must complete and pass the S/P2 Collision training before the shop is listed as an ARX partner.”
“We also care about the safety of our adjusters,” Lacy added, “which is why we use the S/P2 Claims Staff course to help our field claims staff prepare to face on-the-job hazards, whether in an auto shop or at the scene of an accident. We verify that all newly hired claims staff complete the S/P2 training before they enter any work areas, as well as require that all claims staff complete the training once each year.”
“Both of these initiatives truly position GEICO as a leader in the insurance industry when it comes to safety and environmental awareness,” Holt said. “Their standard for excellence contributes to safer facilities for employees and clients, and exemplifies protection for our environment.”
Lacy will accept GEICO’s Excellence in Safety and Pollution Prevention Award from S/P2’s Senior Account Manager and Industry Representative, Bob Medved, at the upcoming Collision Industry Conference (CIC) Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, in Palm Springs, Calif
